Paul McCartney
later said he got the idea to Why Don't We Do It In The
Road? in India, where he had seen two monkeys casually copulating
in the road.
Why Don't
We Do It In The Road? was another "solo" performance
by Paul, with Ringo on drums. Lennon later resented that
he had not been asked to play on it. The song's simplicity
and spontaneous approach, as well as the minimalist production,
was similar to what later would become a trademark for Lennon's
solo records.
