Free As A Bird
This Boy,
written by John Lennon in a hotel room, was influenced by
Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. Lennon sings the impressive
lead vocal, while McCartney and Harrison deliver the vocal
harmonies.
George and Paul get a bit mixed up with ’this boy’
and ’that boy’ though, and sometimes it sounds
like they sing ’thas boy’ and ’thus boy’.
This becomes particularly evident on the version which is
included on the CD-single Free As A Bird, and also on the
live version performed on the TV show Morecambe & Wise,
which is available on Anthology 1.
