It was Paul who wrote The Night Before, and although it's
not regarded as one of his strongest compositions, it's
still a fine tune.
McCartney's lead vocal is double tracked, a recording technique
the Beatles used a lot. Meanwhile, John made his debut on
the electric piano.
In the movie Help!, the Beatles perform The Night Before
on a field in Salisbury Plain, near the historical Stonehenge
site, surrounded by troops and tanks from the British Army.
