The Beatles 1967-1970(The Blue Album)
At a time
when the Beatles should be focusing on recording music,
they were instead hung up in meetings and heated discussions
about who should manage their finances. At this stage, the
financial side of the group's affairs was out of control.
Despite the fact that the Beatles sold millions of records
worldwide, they felt that they never actually saw the money
they made (See also You
Never Give Me Your Money.)
Consequently,
New York lawyer John Eastman, brother of Paul's girlfriend
and future wife Linda, was brought in to take care of the
money side of the business. But in January 1969, John Lennon
and Yoko Ono met music business manager Harry Klein, and
shortly after they announced Klein as the group's new financial
manager. This marked the beginning of a bitter dispute within
the group, since Paul wanted Eastman to be in charge of
the finances, instead of Klein.
A string
of tense meetings at Apple (Beatles' headquarter and record
label) followed. One day in the early spring of 1969, George
Harrison decided that he had had enough of the meetings
and instead he decided to pay his friend and Cream guitarist
Eric Clapton a visit. Harrison was sitting in Capton's garden
in Surrey, England, strumming his friend's acoustic guitar
when the sun came out for the first time that year. He later
said that the song came to him there and then. Here Comes
The Sun expresses relief and optimism, despite the troubled
times. The song has also been recorded by Peter Tosh, Richie
Havens and Nina Simone, among others.
Here Comes The Sun
(George Harrison)
Here comes the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Little
darling
It's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it's been here
Here comes
the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Little
darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
I seems like years since it's been here
Here comes
the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Sun, sun,
sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little
darling
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes
the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Here comes the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun
It's all right
It's all right
